JAMES BOONE Nighttime Traffic Manager/TV Trivia Consultant Television was introduced during the late 20's, when James was just a twinkle in the twinkle of his grandfather's eye. Known affectionately as "Thumbs Down" Boone, this wily outspoken figure has long been credited as TV's very first critic. After watching a confusing display of blurry images flicker across Vladimir Zworykin's "electric eye", Grandpa Boone was quick to tell the Russian inventor it sucked. James Boone showed early traces of hypercriticism from the day he was born. Baby Boone was introduced in prime time, while his mother's Obstetrician watched the 1963 season premiere of Ben Casey, MD. Instinctively, James wouldn't stop crying until the nurses changed the channel to Beverly Hillbillies, an infantile habit he has yet to outgrow. As a youngster, James spent approximately 8/9ths of his life in front of a television. Although he never learned how to throw a spiral, he acquired an amazing database of television trivia. While most amateurs can rattle off Dr. David Banner, Tom Corbett and Tim O'Hara, it takes a professional couch potato like James to include the characters of Tony Blake and Matt Cassidy to complete this obscure list of Bill Bixby's starring roles. In 1987, James received a BS in Economics from Rutgers University and by 1988 he had already forgotten everything he ever learned about money when he paid $60 for his first TV collectible, a Lassie lunchbox. Young and broke, James packed 5 tuna sandwiches in that overpriced piece of painted tin and moved to Atlanta. It still smells. James got his first big break in television at VTA as an Assistant Editor/Animatics Operator/Satellite Pirater. There he learned the subtle art of signal splitting while he amassed the world's only complete episodic collection of air-checks for Jake & The Fatman. In 1993, James took an Operations position at Peachtree Post and began working nights. This left plenty of time to start a family and catch up on Springer. In 1997, James brought his nocturnal traffic skills to Wolff Bros and is currently trying to figure out a way to transfer all of his old videotapes to Hi Def. In 2000, he appeared on TV Land's Ultimate Fan Search and ironically was eliminated in the first round, when he froze on a Brady Bunch question much like Cindy did in episode #94 because of that 'little red light'. According to James, the show was stupid and he didn't want to win anyway.
While you may never see him, James is an integral part of the Wolff Bros experience.
When you drop off your dub order and head over to the bar, James stays behind and makes sure everything gets finished just before Last Call with Carson Daly. If you would like to thank James for his under-appreciated service and dedication, he has a wish list on classictvshop.com and is currently eyeing item number JTPUN0002 - a Punky Brewster Pink Punky on Pink Junior T-Shirt.
